Walking With Giants – big changes afoot!

At Festive Road, like many arts organisations, we are reliant on grants and donations to do the work we do, and this is especially the case with our Walking With Giants Parade. The Parade is a labour of love – which relies on many hours of volunteer time; and comes with a hefty price tag for us!

For the last four years we have received grant funding to enable us to run this amazing FREE Parade but, unfortunately, this year we have been unsuccessful with some of our grant applications.

Despite very generous awards of funding from MK Council and MK Community Foundation, there is still insufficient money in the pot to do justice to ourselves and, more importantly, the public; so we have made the tough decision to cancel this year’s Walking With Giants Parade (due to take place on 26th June). We will be back with next year holding a spectacular Parade to celebrate Milton Keynes’ 50th Birthday; the planning for which has already started and we have some initial funding in place.

But all is not lost, Festive Road will be exhibiting a collection of their extraordinary mechanical creations, including some wonderful new creatures, at the Barn Gallery, Westbury Arts Centre, as part of the 4th binennial MK Festival Fringe, which runs from 13 - 23 July 2016.

Why be ordinary, when you can be extraordinary!!
