Paraffinalia – a Festival of Fire & Fun

On Saturday 19th December over 2,000 people saw the Dark Knight return to Milton Keynes, as they attended Paraffinalia at Campbell Park for Festive Road’s 2nd annual Festival of Fire.

The breath-taking display opened with fire performers and a saw a lantern parade with children from Long Meadow and Summerfield Schools and at MK Gallery mini makers, displaying the lanterns they recently made at workshops hosted by the team.

A number of illuminated structures and puppets, including cycle powered Hilary the Triceratops, lit up the park. Food outlets and music performers added to the festive atmosphere of the evening. Following on from last year’s event, Gywnhaf the Dragon returned from the ashes to stage an epic finale!

Richard Bentley, who worked as the Musical Director for Paraffinalia, said, “I thoroughly enjoyed working with Festive Road and greatly admire the way they integrate and support both community groups and professional artists in these ambitious and inclusive projects."

The free event saw Festive Road collecting money for local charity, Leo’s Appeal, raising a magnificent £370 for the children’s wards at Milton Keynes Hospital.

Festive Road would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who attended the event, and to thank the volunteers and performers – without whom we could not have run the event.
