Festive Road to Run Northampton Diwali Celebration Workshops

Later this month people from across Northampton will have the chance to become part of the town’s annual  Festival of Lights celebrations.

On Monday 26 October the Guildhall will host a special event for anyone who wants to create tea light holders, banners and other items for the event. As well as being a chance to get creative and make something for the event it will give everyone the chance to find out more about the history and traditions of Diwali.

The creative workshop has been organised by Indian Hindu Welfare Organisation, Northampton Borough Council and Voluntary Impact Northamptonshire’s School of Life, in partnership with MK-based carnival arts organisation Festive Road.

The drop in workshop will run from 11am to 3pm, and everyone is welcome to join the fun and excitement as the town gets ready for the Festival of Lights celebrations in November.

Councillor Anna King, co-chair of Northampton Borough Council’s community forums said: “The workshop is a great way of being part of a fantastic community event. Every year the Festival of Lights brings thousands of people into our town.

“So I would invite everyone to join the workshop and be a part of what is set to be a brilliant night that brings the whole community together for a celebration.”

If you would like to come along and join in with the workshop, please contact Alice Morgan, Community Development Officer onforums@northampton.gov.uk or call 01604 837795 to book your space.
