Rugby World Cup Fever Hits Milton Keynes!

As the whole of the country, not to say the world, comes together to celebrate the start of the Rugby World Cup, the people of Milton Keynes are busy preparing for their involvement in this global tournament, with local outdoor arts specialist company, Festive Road, promising activities for the whole community to enjoy.

As part of the celebrations, Festive Road were commissioned by Milton Keynes Council to create some unique murals. Working together with children from Langland School and Charles Warren Academy, they decorated four underpasses in Milton Keynes to show the town’s support for, and engagement with, the event. The painting took place on 22nd and 23rd September, with each mural having been specially designed by the creative team at Festive Road.

Also, as part of the celebrations, the Parks Trust will be hosting a family-friendly Fanzone in Campbell Park which, open between 1st- 11th October. People will be able to go along and watch the rugby on big screens, as well as enjoy other activities and events. As part of these festivities, and in keeping with the RWC ‘giants’ theme, Festive Road has been engaged to create two giant puppets for the Fanzone. These puppets will be dressed in unique rugby kit which will reflect the global nature of the Rugby World Cup. Festive Road will also be supplying spectacular Dhol drummers for the Fanzone to add to the carnival atmosphere that is hotly anticipated.
