Have trunk – will travel!

The Festive Road team travelled far and wide at the weekend – taking in two carnival parades, as well as running a successful event in Milton Keynes as part of the Heritage Open Days.

The Heritage Open Days are an annual event in England, which give people the chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – all for FREE. As part of this year’s event, Festive Road opened its doors and was thrilled to welcome over 100 visitors, who took the opportunity to see some amazing Festive Road creatures & creations - as well as creating their own mythical beasts from recycled materials, or ‘batik-a-bag’ to take home.

Additionally, the Festive Road elephant, Harminder, and her minders travelled over 600 miles in 3 days to take part in the Kendal Torchlight Carnival Street Party in Cumbria on Saturday; before racing down the motorway to join the Hackney One Carnival in East London on Sunday. These were both new events for Festive Road and it was not only wonderful to be invited to take part in glorious sunshine for both events, but also heart-warming to see the pleasure that a life-sized mechanical elephant can bring to people!

All in all, it was a very successful – if not exhausting – weekend for the whole Festive Road team!
