Heritage Open Day – Out of this World!
15th September 2019 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
FreeCome along to Festive Road and join us in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing!
On July 20, 1969, the lunar module of Apollo 11 became the first manned spacecraft to land safely on the Moon, in the area named Mare Tranquillitatis, commonly known as the Sea of Tranquility
Between 1969 and 1972 there was a total of six manned US Moon landings.
It took 400,000 people to enable 12 men to walk on the Moon - that is what we call People Power!
For our Heritage Open Day, we will have a wonderfully fun and hands-on selection of activities to celebrate this incredible time in history - including the chance to see and operate our giant orrery (created especially for the anniversary), or you can marvel at our homemade ‘moon buggy, lunar lander and astronaut; and then make your own space-related object to take home.
In addition, our fabulous collection of creatures and creations will also be available for admiration and selfies!
